The Abington Community Library is still experiencing delays in the shipment of IRS instructions for 2012 income tax returns and has not yet received the Reproducible Forms book which contains hundreds of forms which can be reproduced on the library’s coin operated copiers. However,
the IRS website (www.irs.gov) has access to both forms and instructions either from a home computer or from one of the library’s public computers.
There is a charge for printing when using the library’s printer. A selection of Pennsylvania forms, including the Property Tax and Rent Rebate booklet, is now available free of charge.
NEW BOOKS FOR MIDDLE GRADE READERS
“The Spindlers” – by Lauren Oliver. “Millions, Billions, & Trillions: Understanding Big Numbers” – by David A. Adler. What does a million look like? A billion? A trillion? These huge numbers are hard to visualize, yet with the help of this book and its colorful graphics, children can begin to understand the concepts of very large quantities in a tangible way.
“Jewish Fairy Tale Feasts: a Literary Cookbook” – by Jane Yolen and Heidi E. Y. Stemple. Readers of all ages will learn about Jewish folktales, culture and cooking from retellings of Jewish tales from around the world paired with recipes for everything from challah to matzo brei to pomegranate couscous to rugelah. Throughout, the authors share fun facts and anecdotes about the creation of the stories and the history of the dishes, designed to encourage future cooks and storytellers to make up their own versions.
