Wall outside Prescott Elementary ‘has failed’

A piece of a wall in front of Prescott Elementary School “needs immediate attention,”
Scranton School District Director of Buildings and Grounds Jeff Brazil said Monday.
“The wall has failed. It’s not the first time, but the next time I think it’s going to col-
lapse,” he said.

A large piece of the stone wall fell out Monday morning and “the whole thing has
buckled,” according to Brazil.

Officials roped off the sidewalk along Prescott Avenue near the corner of Myrtle
Street on Tuesday morning and are likely to approve a motion for emergency repairs
at their April 2 meeting, which will be held at the Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County.

“I don’t think it can wait until summer,” Brazil said.
