Local Roundup: Lake-Lehman softball edges Berwick on walk-off triple

Jillian Ulozas’ walk-off RBI triple led Lake-Lehman softball to a 6-5 win over Berwick on Monday.

Ulozas finished the game with two hits and one RBI, and Ava Hudak led the Black Knights in RBIs with two.

Katie Starr went 1-for-3 for Berwick, but her lone hit was a home run.

BASEBALL

Lake-Lehman 13, Delaware Valley 3 (6 inn.)

Nick Finarelli helped lead the Black Knights to a win in just six innings over Delaware Valley.

Finarelli was the winning pitcher, tossing 3.2 innings while racking up eight strikeouts and allowing three earned runs on three hits and one walk. At the dish, Finarelli went 2-for-3 with five RBIs.

MMI Prep 14, Notre Dame ES 4 (5 inn.)

Dave Castro doubled and knocked in four runs and Colin Williams homered and drove home three more runs as the Preppers defeated Notre Dame East Stroudsburg.

Kevin McNulty added two RBI and was the winning pitcher in relief, striking out seven over three innings.

TENNIS

Crestwood 3, Holy Redeemer 2

Crestwood improved to 2-0 on the season with a win over Holy Redeemer.

The Comets swept the doubles sets behind the pairs of Alex Covelens/Noah Partington and Ryan Kostiuk/Brayden Fenwick. Ben Ziegler also won a singles match for Crestwood.

Will Wolfgang and Caleb Hurley won singles matches for the Royals.

Wyoming Seminary 3, Wilkes-Barre Area 2

The Blue Knights defeated Wilkes-Barre Area after sweeping the doubles sets thanks to Amin Ali/Ryan Chun and Marco Magnotta/Tracey Kindler. Artur Gilicinski won Wyoming Seminary’s only singles match.

The Wolfpack picked up two singles wins from Michael Hamel and Stanley Shimko.

Dallas 5, MMI Prep 0

Dallas swept the match with MMI Prep with three singles wins from Tucker Chesman, Dan Flynn and Dan Dudick. Luca DeRome/Jason Joshi and Lucas Carver/Andrew Gryskewicz won the doubles matches for the Mountaineers.

BOYS LACROSSE

Wyoming Seminary 17, Wilkes-Barre Area 2

Cooper Wood’s seven points on four goals and three assists led the Blue Knights past Wilkes-Barre Area. Jack Herron added six points on four goals and two assists and Marshall Standish had six points on two goals and four assists.

Wilkes splits twinbill

The Colonels split a double header with Stevens, winning the first game 6-0 behind a complete game shutout from Tony Molitoris. They fell 8-5 in the second game.

SOFTBALL

King’s, Wilkes split two

King’s dominated the first game with their rivals, winning 11-0 before Wilkes came back to win the second game 4-2.

Bailey Loyack was 2-for-2 with three RBIs to lead the Monarchs in game one and Wilkes had four different players (Sarah Gibson, Erin Cabry, Emma Stauffer and Marissa Pick) drive in runs in the second game.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Arcadia 3, Wilkes 0

Wilkes was swept in three sets by Arcadia 25-14, 28-26 and 25-22. Casey Shipman had 16 assists for the Colonels.
