Stefan Noesen scored twice as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defeated the Springfield Falcons 4-2 Friday night in Springfield.
The Penguins jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Andrew Agozzino and Thomas Di Pauli. Agozzino’s goal, his seventh of the season, was assisted by Adam Johnson and David Warsofsky. Di Pauli’s goal was his first of the season and assisted by Jack Lucchini and Jordy Bellerive.
Noesen made it 3-0 just six minutes into the second period. Noesen’s 12th goal of the season came on the power play and was assited by Agozzino and Johnson. Just a minute later, the Falcons’ Blaine Byron cut the lead to 3-1 with his fourth goal of the season.
Henrick Brogstrom then made it a one-goal game with his fifth goal of the season, just over five minutes into the third period.
Noesen iced the game with an empty-net goal with just 50 seconds left in the game. Johnson was credited with his 10th assist of the season on the goal.
Casey DeSmith stopped 40 of 42 shots for the Penguins to run his record to 9-4 on the season.
The Penguins return home today to play the Charlotte Checkers at 7:05 p.m.
