Honoring the fallen and paying homage to all brethren, a crowd gathered Sunday evening, Nov. 11 at a Veterans Day Memorial Service at Clarks Summit United Methodist Church.
The local VFW Post #7069 includes more than 1,000 members‚??approximately 250 lifetime.

Local observance by VFW Post #7069 will be on various dates, starting with Nov. 9 and continuing through 12, according to Post Commander Steuart J. Bailey.
Capping off the Nov. 12 tributes, an honor guard will gather at Veterans Monument in north Clarks Summit for their annual sunset ‚??Honor the Flags‚?Ě ceremony.
On Nov. 9, Commander Bailey attended a special assembly at Lakeland High School to honor all local District 10 veterans.
The morning of Nov. 12, Commander Bailey, along with the Post color guard, presented a program at Clarks Summit Elementary School, which will include the posting of the colors, singing of the national anthem, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and concluding with ‚??Taps.‚?Ě
Commander Bailey then visited his daughter Jacklyn‚??s second grade classroom where all three second grade classes heard the meaning of Veterans Day and the flag. Students were then presented with an American flag.
Afterward, the Post was scheduled to visit the DePaul School at Allied Services for its annual presentation to honor all Veterans and a luncheon. And then on to Clarks Summit Senior Care Center on the Morgan Highway to socialize with the resident Veterans and host a flag- raising ceremony.
