DISTRICT 2 BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS

Cavaliers, Comets, Trojans in Class AAA tourney

The eight teams that will make up the District 2 Class AAA boys' basketball field have all been decided, only the order of four of those teams remains to be determined.

Two matchups for Friday's quarterfinals are set.

Crestwood and Pittston Area, both 13-9, will meet Friday at 7 at Wyoming Area.

Defending champion Holy Redeemer (10-12) will play Scranton Prep (16-6) at Carbondale at 7:30 in the second game of a doubleheader. Scranton Prep is the top seed among three qualifiers from the Lackawanna League.

Abington Heights will play at in the 6 p.m. game against either Dallas or Tunkhannock at Carbondale.

North Pocono will play Dallas or Tunkhannock at Pittston Area at 7:30.

Abington Heights (18-5) and North Pocono (11-12) have a playoff to decide their order as the second and third seeds from the Lackawanna.

Dallas (13-8) and Tunkhannock (14-8) each won a half and are meeting for the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 title.

The Abington Heights-North Pocono winner will play the Dallas-Tunkhannock loser and vice versa.

Holy Redeemer was the only WVC team to capture a district basketball title last season.
