Holy Cross continued its control over Riverside Saturday night, capturing the Lackawanna League Division 2 second-half and all-season boys' basketball titles with a 47-37 victory at Carbondale Area High School.
The Crusaders improved to 19-4 overall by adding to the first-half championship they won outright.
Riverside is 20-3. The Vikings are 20-0 against everyone else but 0-3 against the Crusaders, who won both regular-season meetings.
CLASS AAA
Abington Heights and North Pocono earned spots in the District 2 tournament with wins in the Lackwanna League Qualifying Tournament.
Abington Heights pounded Valley View, 53-22, while North Pocono outscored Honesdale, 72-67.
The teams will meet Monday to determine which takes the second and which takes the third seed from the league behind Scranton Prep.
CLASS AA
Dunmore and Montrose each bounced back from second-half playoff losses to win their first qualifying tournament games.
Dunmore defeated Elk Lake, 43-32. The Bucks will be home Monday against Lackawanna Trail, which topped Carbondale, 61-51.
Tom Lewis scored 21 points to lead Montrose past Mountain View, 60-39. The Meteors will be home Monday against Blue Ridge, which defeated Mid Valley, 73-63.
Holy Cross and Division 3 champion Lakeland will meet Wednesday to decide the order of the top two seeds from the league.
