Clarks Summit Festival of Ice goers will for the fourth year be entertained by multi-instrumentalist and composer Mark Woodyatt, 30, of Scranton. But even for those who already experienced his talent, boredom won’t come easy, as no two shows of his are identical.

“I’m really excited to come back and do something different this year,” he said.

Woodyatt will give a solo performance Feb. 16 at Armetta’s from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. He said he plans to use a combination of looping pedals, violin, synthesizer and accompaniment tracks via an iPad, with primary focus on the violin. He will play a mix of original and spontaneous compositions, as well as covers and requests from the audience.

While his training is in jazz and classical violin, Woodyatt said he plays a “melting pot of styles,” and defines his own music as “jazz/fusion.”

He has performed for more than 20 years and is currently part of the Clarks Summit band Rogue Chimp.

His highlight recordings include work with artists such as Phil Woods, Gypsy Jazz Quintet, Jan Novodka and various local artists. He also contributed to six film scores.

In addition, he performs in weddings and other special events.

He said his best quality as a performing artist is his “versatility and sensitivity to each unique musical situation and setting that I’ve been called to do.”
