Picnic in the park

Each August, clients from United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania's four senior centers gather together for a picnic at McDade Park in Scranton.

More than 200 seniors attended this year's gathering on Friday, Aug. 31, listening to music, dancing, playing bingo, and participating in other activities.

Blue Cross employee volunteers assisted at the annual picnic by helping serve refreshments, and by interacting with the seniors throughout the day.

Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania created the Caring Corps Employee Volunteer Program in 2005. Throughout the year, BCNEPA employees are encouraged to volunteer in the community .
