SMG Community Outreach Group holds food drives for hurricane victims

The SMG Community Outreach Group (COG) at Mohegan Sun Arena and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins recently hosted food drives in support of the Hurricane Sandy victims in New Jersey. Food donations were collected at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins game on Nov. 16 and at the arena's east gate entrance on Nov. 17. Staff gathered and packaged over 45 boxes of goods, including canned foods, dry foods, baby foods and diapers. Monetary donations were also made from tickets sold through a special Hurricane Sandy ticket package offered by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for their game on Nov. 16.All donated items were delivered to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey in Hillside, N.J.
